June 2nd is the Festa della repubblica (Italian Republic Day). This day commemorates the constitutional referendum held on June 1946; the Italians voted to decide what form of government post-World War II Italy would have: a monarchy or a republic. 2016 marks the 70th anniversary of the Italian Republic.
Meet students, post-doc and faculty at UC Berkeley for drink and conversation and celebrate the 70th year of the Italian republic!
